Falls Church, April 30, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Community Associations Institute (CAI), the leading international authority in community association, education, governance, and management, has launched HOAResources.com, a new digital media brand produced by the nonprofit organization.
The news site engages in critical discussions of key issues arising within the community association housing model—including, open communication between residents and association leaders, a commitment to transparency in governance, dedicated volunteers, and adherence to best practices for association governance and management. Many of these time-tested best practices are showcased on this site often including free, downloadable documents for readers.
“Today marks the release of a groundbreaking digital news site devoted to the community association marketplace,” says Thomas M. Skiba, CAE, CAI’s chief executive officer. “This is a testament to how much the community association model has evolved in recent years. The concept has grown up, become well-established and an increasingly successful form of community governance and an essential component of the U.S. housing market.”
With 61% of all new housing built for sale in a community association, also known as planned communities (e.g. homeowners associations, condominium communities, and housing cooperatives), according to the 2017 National and State Statistical Review for Community Association Data, published by the Foundation for Community Association Research (FCAR), CAI recognized an increasing need to educate, train, and provide the latest news and resources to the millions of potential homebuyers, homeowners, and renters living in these communities.
According to CAI, the best community associations have knowledgeable governing boards, highly-engaged residents, and educated and trained professional managers leading their communities.
“We know that most community associations function very well, thanks to the skills and dedication of homeowner leaders, community managers, and others who provide professional services to associations. We also know that all communities do not operate as well as they should," says Skiba.
